Why Drinking H20 Is Essential to Your Skin - OZNaturals

The amount of advice on how to achieve a healthy lifestyle can sometimes seem overwhelming. In this newsletter, we’ve outlined how drinking water regularly can help weave a wellness routine into your everyday life. While eating mindfully and sticking to your skincare routine is essential, here is what you can gain by drinking H20.

Drinking adequate amounts of pure water is one of the best things you can do for your health. Start the day on the right track by drinking a full glass of water when you wake up and remember to drink water with every snack or meal.  This will not only aid in hydration and digestion, it also helps avoid mindless overeating.

Water is as close to a fountain of youth as you’re going to get, so drink up! Water cleanses your insides of toxins, which helps prevent breakouts and keeps your skin clear and hydrated. When your skin is dehydrated, it looks dry and that alone can subtly increase signs of aging with wrinkles. Mind you, simply drinking water is not a cure-all for dehydrated skin (you still need to use a moisturizer to see visible results) but water is an important start from the inside. Also, water is vital to your organs, and skin is the biggest organ you have, so you can imagine it needs quite a lot to function properly.

While water flushes toxins out of the body, it also allows our cells to absorb nutrients, and keeps our digestive processes moving smoothly.  All of these things have a major effect on how your skin looks and feels. Try to drink pure water, however, as this is much better for your body.

So, how much water should you be drinking? There’s been quite a bit of debate about that over the last 10 years. While the old estimate of eight 8-oz glasses a day is no longer considered a hard and fast rule, you may actually need more than that. In 2004, the Institute of Medicine issued new guidelines recommending a total fluid intake of 91 ounces for women and 125 ounces a day for men. You should expect to increase that if you exercise or work in hot conditions.

The key is to make adequate water intake and optimal hydration a daily habit. Stay consistent, and you’ll notice the results in a matter of weeks, or even days. Your body’s digestion and circulation will improve, nutrients will properly absorb and toxins will be flushed out of the body, resulting in clearer, more luminous skin.
