It’s easy to slip up on your regular routine, but if you do nothing else, you must always clean your skin in the morning and at night. It may not make a huge difference the first time around, but overtime, being forgetful will leave your pores clogged and create additional problems like breakdowns and irritation. Cleanse your skin in the morning to remove oil buildup and prep your skin for all of your daily products, then do the same at night to remove all dirt and pollutants that collect throughout the day. Getting ahead of this will help keep the pores clear.
Pores often clog even when your skin is clean because dry, dead skin cells are collecting on the face. To remove this barrier, be sure to exfoliate one to three times a week, depending on how dry your skin is. If you notice a buildup of dead skin dulling down your complexion, veer more toward 3 days or as needed to correct this issue. In combination with cleansing, this will ensure there are very few things getting trapped in your pores, and your skin will be squeaky clean.
Toners are made to balance the skin, so excess sebum production will be inhibited by always following your cleansing routine with a toner. You don’t need to use anything too astringent to get the best results. Just be sure to use it twice daily in your routine to discourage the production of pore clogging oils.
If you notice your skin acting up more than usual and your pores are more clogged than usual, be sure to add our tried-and-true tips from above into your daily routine. Adhering to them twice daily in combination with your regular skincare routine will yield the best long-term results that you can see and feel.
